Spellbinders The Poet's Garden Collection

Hello!

I am back with some projects that I made using the new release from Spellbinders.

Here is the first one:

For this card, I trimmed a piece of kraft colored cardstock to 4" x 5.25" in size. I then used repositionable adhesive to hold it in place on my work surface.

To add more detail, I went in with my Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below:

  • Dried Marigold layer: Pale Vermilion

  • Wild Honey layer: Light Umber

  • Spiced Marmalade layer: Pumpkin Orange

  • Bundled Sage layer: Kelly Green

  • Peeled Paint layer: Dark Green

  • Black Soot layer: Black

  • Pumice Stone layer: 70% Warm Grey

For the sentiment, I used the Spellbinders The Poet's Garden Sentiments press and foil plates and dies. I figured out the placement for my sentiment, taped my inked panel to the top plate, and then placed the "thank you" plate on my BetterPress LetterPress platform and inked it up with Altenew Obsidian Pigment Ink. I then ran the whole system through my Sizzix Big Shot machine.

To finish the card, I glued the panel to a black A2 card base using Art Glitter Glue and then added a few black gems from my stash.

That's it for the first card.

Here is the second one:

I started by die cutting the pieces from the Spellbinders Wild Violet and Ladybugs set on white cardstock using my Sizzix Big Shot and magic mat.

I then added color to the die cut pieces using Kat Scrappiness Crafty Dabbers and Distress Inks. For the flowers, I used Milled Lavender and Dusty Concord. For the stems and leaves, I used Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint.

To add more detail, I went in with my Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below:

  • Petals: Dioxazine Purple Hue, Violet, and Parma Violet

  • Stems/leaves: Kelp Green, Olive Green, and Apple Green

Next, I die cut two ovals from white cardstock using the Spellbinders Scallop and Stitched Edge Ovals dies. For the larger oval, I added Milled Lavender ink around the edges. On the smaller one, I smooshed my Shabby Shutters ink pad on my surface and spritzed it with clean water. I used a paint brush to pick up some ink and add some spatters to it.

For the sentiment, I used the Spellbinders The Poet's Garden Sentiments press and foil set. I inked up the sentiment using Altenew Obsidian Pigment Ink and ran the BetterPress system through my Big Shot. I then used the coordinating die to cut out the sentiments. I chose "thank you" for this card.

Next, I created a background panel. I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4" x 5.25" and used the Spellbinders Distress Mix 3D embossing folder to emboss it.

I arranged all of my card layers on a Spellbinders Fern A2 card base and glued everything in place using Art Glitter Glue.

That's it for the second card.

Here is card number three:

I die cut the pieces from the Spellbinders Love-in-a-Mist set from Bristol cardstock using my Sizzix Big Shot and magic mat. I then used Altenew Artist Markers to colors the layers. Specific colors are below:

  • Leaves: Frayed Leaf G702, Forest Glades G715, and Evergreen G554

  • Centers: Rocky Shore Y821, Mocha Y932, and Espresso Y762

  • Flowers: Mountain Mist B802, Volcano Lake B714, Lagoon B815, and Emerald B635

I then die cut a rectangle panel using the Spellbinders Linear Touch Rectangles and Tag set to have a place for my flower and leaves to sit on.

For the sentiment, I selected the one from the Spellbinders The Poet's Garden Sentiments press and foil set that reads "Art is the unceasing effort to compete with the beauty of flowers - and never succeeding. Marc Chagall." I used a blending brush and Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink to ink over the sentiment so it would stand out.

Next, I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4" x 5.25" in size and embossed it using the Spellbinders Dimpled 3D embossing folder. I also inked around the edges of this panel using Cracked Pistachio.

I arranged all of my card layers on a white A2 card base and glued them down using Art Glitter Glue. I finished the card by adding some gems from the Spellbinders Woodland Tales gem pack.

That's it for the third card.

For my last project, I created a mini junk journal using a paper lunch bag:

To create the flower cluster to use as the focal point for my journal cover, I used the Spellbinders Clematis Poet set to die cut from Bristol cardstock using my Big Shot and magic mat. I then used Kat Scrappiness Crafty Dabbers to add color using Shabby Shutters and Spun Sugar Distress Inks.

I then got to work creating my journal cover. First, I stamped some script text onto the paper bag using Walnut Stain Distress Ink to add some interest. I then found a scrap of fabric and glued it to the left hand side using Fabritac glue. I found an embossed piece of book page and added some interest using a blending brush and Vintage Photo Distress Ink and glued it overlapping the fabric scrap.

I then arranged my flower over the cluster I made on the cover and used Art Glitter Glue to adhere it. I left the petals loose for more dimension. I chose a sentiment from the Spellbinders The Poet's Garden Sentiments press and foil set that reads "Happiness is neither virtue nor pleasure nor this thing nor that but simply growth. We are happy when we are growing. W.B. Yeats." I placed the sentiment in the bottom right and added a leaf to tie in the flower.

To finish the cover, I added some gold pearls from my stash.

That's it! I hope you enjoyed these projects and are inspired to create.

Happy crafting!
