Hello!
Today I am sharing this adorable card I made using the new Spellbinders Swinging Among the Stars dies from the Little Smiles release.

I started off by using the Swinging Among the Stars dies to cut the elements out from watercolor paper using my Sizzix Big Shot Machine and magic mat. Most pieces were only cut out one time. I cut the ropes for the basket out three times (for stability) and the small circle for the swinging mechanism was cut out eight times. I glued the small circles together right away using Art Glitter Glue so I didn't lose them, and then got to work on the rest of the card.
I decided to color all of the elements for the card using Distress watercolor pencils (sets 1, 2, and 3) and a number 2 round brush on my glass media mat.
Specific colors:
Yellows: Vintage Photo, Fossilized Amber, and Mustard Seed
Pinks: Picked Raspberry and Kitsch Flamingo
Browns: Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo
Black/gray: Black Soot and Hickory Smoke
Clouds: Villainous Potion
Ropes: Peacock Feathers
For the background, I cut a piece of watercolor paper down to 4" x 5.25" using my Tim Holtz Guillotine Trimmer. I used a foam blending tool and Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, and Black Soot Distress Inks to make a night sky scene. I added water splatters and Perfect Pearls splatters to add some dimension and stars.
When all of the pieces were dry, I began assembling the card. I glued all of the elephant pieces together and attached it to the basket. I glued the star layers together as well and glued the ropes to the basket. I figured out where I wanted my basket to hang, and glued the stacked circles to the background panel. I then used Scrapbook Adhesives black 3D foam squares and placed them on the top and two side parts of the star so it would be popped up and not interfere with the swinging mechanism. I then put some glue on top of the stacked circles and glued the star in place. I added the clouds and stars to the background to complete the scene.
The sentiment was stamped using Altenew Obsidian Pigment Ink and the Heffy Doodle Special Delivery stamp set (retired). I fussy cut the sentiment and glued it to the basket.
If you would like to see a video for the assembly of the swinging mechanism, let me know and I can make a YouTube video showing the process. I didn't think to take photos of the process as I was making the card. :)
To finish off the card, I attached the panel to a Spellbinders Teal Topaz A2 card base.
That's it! I hope you enjoyed the card and are inspired to create. I also hope you will check out the adorable new release over on the Spellbinders website.
Happy crafting!
