Polka Dot Orchard Fur-ever Spooky

Hello!

I am back again with a fun Halloween card that I made using new products from Polka Dot Orchard along with other supplies from my stash.

ree

I started by printing the cat and sentiment from the new Polka Dot Orchard Fur-ever Spooky digital stamp set onto white cardstock using my Epson EcoTank printer.

I then colored the cat using my Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below:

  • Fur: Terra Cotta, Pumpkin Orange, and Cadmium Orange Hue

  • Nose: Espresso and Dark Brown

  • Costume: Black, 90% Cool Grey, 70% Cool Grey, 20% French Grey, and 10% French Grey

I then fussy cut around the cat and sentiment using my scissors. I used a black Marvy Leplume marker to removed the white edges from around the cat. I set both pieces aside as I worked on building the scene for my spooky card.

I started by die cutting the pieces for my haunted house from scraps of black and gray cardstock using my Sizzix Big Shot and magic mat and the Kat Scrappiness Home Sweet Home dies (retired) and Haunted House Add-on dies. To add some brick to the house, I used the retired My Favorite Things English Brick Wall stencil and a blending brush and Lawn Fawn Hippo ink. I glued the pieces of the house together using Art Glitter Glue.

Next, I die cut some ghosts from vellum using the retired Impression Obsession Mini Ghosts dies. I cut out bats from black cardstock using the retired Poppy Stamps Tiny Bat die.

I then worked on creating the background for the card. I made a white 5" x 7" card base and then did some ink blending to create a spooky purple sky. First, I used the Spellbinders Lots of Circles stencils and masks and Pumice Stone Distress Ink to create a moon using a Kat Scrappiness mini blending brush. I used the mask to protect the moon as I created the sky using blending brushes and Altenew Amethyst, Grape Agate, and Plum Inks (Sugarplums bundle). I darkened the edges using Black Soot Distress Ink. To add some clouds, I used a Picket Fence Studios mini paper pouncer (retired - regular size still available) and Taylored Expressions Sugar Cube White Pigment Ink (retired). I created the grass using the retired My Favorite Things Grassy Edges stencil and Black Soot Distress Ink.

I then assembled my scene on the card and glued everything flat using Art Glitter Glue.

That's it! I hope you enjoyed the card and are inspired to create.

Happy crafting!
