Kat Scrappiness You're Turtley Awesome!

Hello!

I am back with another fun card using products from Kat Scrappiness.

I started by trimming a piece of Bristol cardstock to 4" x 5.25" in size. I then used foam blending tools and Distress Inks to add a gradient of color to the background to look like an underwater scene. These are the specific colors I used: Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot. I then used a retired My Favorite Things Ray of Light stencil, a Picket Fence Studios Paper Pouncer, and Taylored Expressions Sugar Cube ink to add some light rays coming down into the water. After the panel dried, I used a Spectrum Noir Crystal Clear Sparkle Pen (any clear glitter brush pen would work) to add some shine over the rays.

To create the sand, I trimmed a piece of Bristol to 4" wide and used my scissors to cut a wavy top on it. I then used Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress Inks to add some color. Too add more sand texture, I used a Dark Brown Prismacolor pencil and a white gel pen to add some speckles.

To create my greenery for my underwater scene, I ink blended onto some scraps of Bristol. For the red/orange ones, I used Dried Marigold, Abandoned Coral, and Barn Door Distress Inks. For the blue/green, I used Cracked Pistachio and Peacock Feathers. I then die cut the greenery using the Kat Scrappiness Life Under the Sea dies and my Sizzix Big Shot and magic mat.

Next, I stamped the turtle from the Kat Scrappiness Friends Under the Sea stamp set onto white cardstock using an acrylic block and Altenew Obsidian Pigment Ink. I stamped a few fish directly onto my background using Lawn Fawn Hippo ink. I then colored the turtle and fish using Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below:

  • Fish: Copenhagen Blue, True Blue, Dark Green, and Apple Green

  • Turtle: Dark Green, Apple Green, Spring Green, Dark Brown, Light Umber, and Beige Sienna

I fussy cut around the turtle and used a black Marvy leplumme marker (any water based marker works here) to ink around the edges to hide any white that might be showing.

Next, I created the sentiment for my card. I die cut the word "thanks" out of white cardstock using the Kat Scrappiness Thanks Shadow Sentiment die set. I also stamped "you're turtley awesome!" from the Friends Under the Sea set and trimmed the sentiment into strips.

To put my card together, I arranged all of my layers onto a white A2 card base and glued them in place using Art Glitter Glue. For the stamped sentiment, I lightly inked around the edges using Vintage Photo to help it blend into the background better.

That's it! I hope you enjoyed this card and are inspired to create.

Happy crafting!

Kelsey
