Hello!
I am back with my very first design team project for Kat Scrappiness!

I started by trimming a piece of Neenah cardstock to 4" x 5.25" in size. I then go to work creating my scene. I first stamped the quokka from the Kat Scrappiness Cowboy Quokka stamp set to the bottom right of my panel. I also added a cactus in the bottom left. I used my MISTI and Altenew Obsidian Pigment Ink to stamp the image.
Next, I sketched in a desert scene for my card. I drew in some hills and cacti in the distance using a pencil, and when I was satisfied with how it looked, I traced over the lines using a 03 Kingart black Inkline pen and erased the pencil lines.
I colored the scene using Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below:
Sand: Sienna Brown, Goldenrod, Sand, and Eggshell
Cacti: Kelp Green, Apple Green, and Limepeel
Quokka: Dark Brown, Sienna Brown, Mineral Orange, and Goldenrod
Quokka nose/horse mane and hooves: Black, 90% Warm Grey, and 70% Warm Grey
Horse: Black, 90% Warm Grey, 70% Warm Grey, 50% Warm Grey, 30% Warm Grey, 20% Warm Grey, 10% Warm Grey, and White
Mouth/bandana/boots: Crimson Lake, Crimson Red, and Carmine Red
Belt: Black, 30% Warm Grey, 20% Warm Grey, and 10% Warm Grey
Hat/saddle: Dark Brown, Sienna Brown, Tuscan Red, and Crimson Lake
Pants: Indanthrone Blue, Cerulean Blue, and Non-Photo Blue
For some added texture in the sand, I used a white Gelly roll pen to add some dots. I also used the gel pen to add some accents to the horse's hooves, the boots, hat, and quokka's nose.
For the sky, I used a blending brush and a Kat Scrappiness mini blending brush and Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean Distress Inks, adding darker color to the top of the panel. To add some interest to my sky, I added some spatters using some Perfect Pearls.
I die cut some clouds using the Kat Scrappiness He is Risen dies and my Sizzix Big Shot and magic mat. I cut them out of vellum and glued them to my panel using Art Glitter Glue.
For the sentiment, I die cut the Kat Scrappiness Howdy Shadow Sentiment die from white cardstock. I created a sub-sentiment by stamping "happy birthday" from the Kat Scrappiness Everyday Brushstrokes stamp set onto a white strip.
I glued my colored panel to a white A2 card base and glued my sentiment in place.
That's it! I hope you enjoyed the card and are inspired to create.
Happy crafting!
Kelsey
