Hello!
I am back with my day 31 project for my August #birthdaycardbash challenge. I had the card done on time, but am way late for posting! Canning season is in full swing, so I have been very busy getting all of the things canned.

I started by trimming a piece of Neenah 110 lb cardstock to 4" x 5.25" in size. I then used an acrylic block and Altenew Obsidian Pigment Ink to start creating my scene. I used the Lawn Fawn Ocean Shell-fie, Shello Friend, and So Jelly stamp sets to stamp some adorable sea critters around the outside of the panel. I used low tack artist tape to create masks for them and fussy cut around them with my scissors. Any masking paper would work well here as well. I then stamped the sentiment from the Penny Black Birthday Wishes stamp set in the center of the panel using my MISTI.
After the ink dried, I used a blending brush and Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks to make a gradient of blues on my card, leaving the center lighter to allow the sentiment to stand out. I used Tsukineko shimmer spritz and a number 2 round brush to add some sparkle to the background and set it aside to dry.
I then removed the masks and colored the sea critters in rainbow order using my Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below:
Shrimp: Crimson Lake, Crimson Red, and Carmine Red
Small Jellyfish: Cadmium Orange Hue, Orange, and Yellowed Orange
Clam: Sunburst Yellow, Canary Yellow, Deco Yellow, Pink, Blush Pink, and Deco Pink
Big Jellyfish: Dark Green, Apple Green, Spring Green, and Chartreuse
Fish: Cobalt Turquoise, Aquamarine, and Light Aqua
Medium Jellyfish: Dioxazine Purple Hue, Violet, and Lilac (Amethyst - new color)
Octopus: Dahlia Purple, Mulberry, Process Red, and Hot Pink
I used my black Prismacolor pencil to trace over the eyes/mouths to make them stand out.
To finish the card, I glued the panel to a white A2 card base using Art Glitter Glue.
That's it! I hope you enjoyed the card and are inspired to create!
I am taking a break from doing a challenge for this month. Between canning and work ramping up this month, I am too busy to commit to daily posting, but will be back next month for a Halloween challenge. I hope to see you there!
Happy crafting!
Kelsey
