August Birthday Bash #1 - Kat Scrappiness Sassy Chickens

Hello!

I am starting up a new challenge for the month of August. This month, I will be focusing on making a birthday card everyday to build up my stash. So here is day 1 of my #birthdaycardbash challenge.

I started by die cutting an oval from white cardstock using the retired My Favorite Things Zig Zag Stitched Oval STAX dies and my Sizzix Big Shot and magic mat. I then used an acrylic block and Altenew Obsidian Pigment Ink to stamp the fun chicken from the Kat Scrappiness Sassy Chickens stamp set at the bottom of the oval. I also stamped "What the cluck?" from the same set toward the top of the oval.

After the ink dried, I colored the chicken using my Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below:

  • Red: Crimson Lake, Crimson Red, and Carmine Red

  • Orange: Pumpkin Orange, Mineral Orange, and Yellowed Orange

  • Feathers: 90% French Grey, 70% French Grey, and 50% French Grey

I found a blue polka dot patterned paper from my stash and glued it to a white A2 card base using Art Glitter Glue. I then glued the oval to the center. To finish off the card, I printed the "I missed your birthday" sentiment from the Polka Dot Orchard Better Late Than Never digital stamp set and trimmed it out to add under the stamped sentiment. I glued that flat to the card.

That's it! I hope you enjoyed the card and are inspired to create.

I also want to invite you to join my in my cardmaking challenge over on my Facebook page. See the pinned post at the top of the page for details on how to enter.
