Kat Scrappiness Fabulous Feathered Friends Release!

Hello!

I am back with a ton of fun cards that I made using the Kat Scrappiness Fabulous Feathered Friends release. There is a fun giveaway with this release as well, so head on over to the Kat Scrappiness blog for the details!

Here is my first project:

For this card, I started by cutting the new A2 Jungle Frame Craft Die from white cardstock. I then used Kat's Crafty Dabbers and Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, and Rustic Wilderness Distress Inks to create a gradient of green on the frame. I then set it aside to work on the rest of the card.

Next, I used the Tropical Hibiscus Flowers Craft Dies and cut out some flowers from white cardstock. I then used Kat's Crafty Dabbers and Kitsch Flamingo, Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks to add some color. After the ink dried, I used a Process Red Prismacolor colored pencil to add some detail to the flower petals and then glued the flower layers together.

For my sentiment, I die cut the words "love you" from white cardstock using the Love You Shadow Sentiment Craft Dies. I used the same pink inks to make a gradient of color on them. I also stamped a sub-sentiment from the Fabulous Feathered Friends set onto a white strip.

To create a background for my card, I used the Clouds and Grass Stencils set and added some blue clouds using a blending brush and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink onto a white A2 card base.

I layered my frame, flowers, and sentiments onto the card base and glued them in place. To finish the card, I added some Pink Lemonade Pearls to accent the sentiment.

That's it for the first card.

Next up:

I created this fun shaker card by first cutting out the A2 Jungle Frame die from white cardstock. I also cut out some flowers using the Tropical Hibiscus Flowers dies. I then used some low tack tape to mask off the edge of the frame before coloring with my Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below:

  • Lime Green: Apple Green, Spring Green, and Chartreuse

  • Blue Green: Peacock Green, Grass Green, and True Green

  • Yellow Green: Lime Peel, Chartreuse, and Lemon Yellow

  • Dark Green: Dark Green, Apple Green, and Spring Green

  • Hibiscus Flowers: Black Cherry, Dahlia Purple, and Mulberry

  • Hibiscus Centers: Pumpkin Orange, Cadmium Orange Hue, Orange, Yellowed Orange, and Sunburst Yellow

Next, I stamped the flamingos from the Fabulous Feathered Friends stamp set onto a white A2 card base. I also stamped the sentiment that reads "Be Your Own Kind of Fabulous."

I used Prismacolor colored pencils to color the flamingos. Specific colors are below:

  • Flamingos: Black, 90% French Grey, 70% French Grey, White, Pink, Pale Vermillion, and Salmon Pink

  • Orange Accessories: Cadmium Orange Hue, Orange, and Yellowed Orange

  • Purple Accessories: Black Cherry, Dahlia Purple, and Mulberry

  • Blue Accessories: True Blue, Non-Photo Blue, and Light Cerulean Blue

After I was done coloring, I used mini blending brushes and Shabby Shutters and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks to add some color to my background.

I glued my jungle frame panel to a piece of acetate using 1/8" scor tape and then added some 1/8" foam tape around the frame portion.

For the shaker bits for the card, I used the Tropical Paradise Glitter Sequin Mix, Blue Fairydust Sequin Mix, and Fairytale Princess Sequins. I glued a few sequins to the background panel before removing the release paper and adding my frame to the shaker card.

Next, I created a sentiment by die cutting "happy birthday" from black cardstock using the Happy Birthday Shadow Sentiment craft dies. I glued it to the outside of the shaker and then added the hibiscus dies around the frame.

To finish the card, I added some Sparkling Clear Diamond Jewels.

That's it for the second card.

Here is card number three:

For this card, I used the Kat's Essential Card Builder Craft Dies 3 die and cut from white cardstock for the frame. For the inside pieces, I also die cut from a piece of paper from the Birthday for Her 6x6 Paper Pad.

Next, I stamped the flamingos, toucan, and sentiments from the Fabulous Feathered Friends stamp set. The sentiments read "Sip, sip hooray!" and "Have a flamazing birthday!"

I then colored my images using Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below:

  • Flamingos: Black, 90% French Grey, 70% French Grey, Pomegranate, Process Red, Hot Pink, and Blush Pink

  • Toucan: Black, 90% French Grey, 70% French Grey, Cadmium Orange Hue, Orange, Yellowed Orange, Sunburst Yellow, Copenhagen Blue, Cerulean Blue, True Blue, 20% French Grey, 10% French Grey, and White

  • Orange Accessories: Cadmium Orange Hue, Orange, and Yellowed Orange

  • Green Accessories: Apple Green, Spring Green, and Chartreuse

  • Blue Accessories: Copenhagen Blue, Cerulean Blue, and True Blue

  • Purple Accessories: Dioxazine Purple Hue, Violet, and Lilac

  • Coconut: Dark Umber, Dark Brown, Light Umber, 20% French Grey, 10% French Grey, and White

I then used my scissors to fussy cut around my stamped images and sentiments.

Next, I glued my frame on a piece of acetate using 1/8" scor tape around the frame. To create the walls of my shaker, I cut the frame out of more white cardstock and glued the layers together. I then glued the walls to a white A2 card base and tucked in the purple patterned paper pieces.

For the shaker bits, I used Tropical Paradise Glitter Sequin Mix, White AB Solid Confetti Mix, and Brilliant Sky Blue Confetti Dot Sequins. I then removed the release paper from the scor tape and placed my frame on top of the card.

To finish the card, I glued my sentiment and critters to the outside of the card and accented it with some sequins from the Tropical Paradise Glitter Sequin Mix.

That's it for this card.

Next up:

For this card, I used the leftover frame from cutting out the purple patterned paper from the previous card. The patterned paper is from the Birthday for Her 6x6 Paper Pad and the frame was made using the Kat's Essential Card Builder Craft Dies 3 set.

I then used some of the white panels from the previous card and stamped my scene. For the sentiment, I used the new Sentiment Shoppe - Within the Fold: Crafty Fun stamp set. The sentiments I chose say "Ink happens. Let's get crafty!" For the other panels, I used the Crafty Quokka stamp set.

Next, I colored my panels using Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below:

  • Quokkas: Black, 90% French Grey, 70% French Grey, Sienna Brown, Mineral Orange, Goldenrod, and Crimson Red

  • Desks: Blue Violet Lake, Blue Slate, and Powder Blue

  • Walls: 30% Cool Grey, 20% Cool Grey, and 10% Cool Grey

  • Red Elements: Crimson Lake, Crimson Red, and Carmine Red

  • Green Elements: Apple Green, Spring Green, and Chartreuse

  • Pink Elements: Pomegranate, Process Red, and Hot Pink

  • Yellow Elements: Sunburst Yellow, Canary Yellow, and Deco Yellow

  • Grey Elements: 30% Cool Grey, 20% Cool Grey, and 10% Cool Grey

  • Paper: 20% French Grey, 10% French Grey, and White

I glued my purple frame to a white A2 card base and then tucked in my panels to finish the card.

Here is the next card:

I started by die cutting a piece of patterned paper from the Birthday for Her 6x6 Paper Pad using the Stitched Postage Stamp Edge Rectangles dies. I then inked around the edges of the panel using a Kat's Crafty Dabber and Dusty Concord Distress Ink.

Next, I cut a white panel using the same die set and stamped the quokka image from the Crafty Quokka stamp set. I also stamped a sentiment from the Sentiment Shoppe - Within the Fold: Sentiment Sampler stamp set. The sentiment reads "Happy birthday to you!"

I colored the panel using Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below:

  • Desk: 30% Warm Grey, 20% Warm Grey, and 10% Warm Grey

  • Paper/Marker: 20% Cool Grey, 10% Cool Grey, and White

  • Bow/Marker: Dioxazine Purple Hue, Violet, and Lilac

  • Quokka: Black, 90% French Grey, 70% French Grey, Sienna Brown, Mineral Orange, Goldenrod, Jasmine, and Blush Pink

I then used a mini blending brush and Milled Lavender Distress Ink to add some color to the wall and trimmed the edges of the panel off using my scissors, leaving just the stitching around the edge. I then glued the panel to a piece of Kat's Color Studio Premium Cardstock in the color Grape Soda and trimmed around it to create a mat. I also die cut the words "love you" from the same cardstock using the Love You Shadow Sentiment craft dies and created a gradient of color using the Dusty Concord Distress Ink.

I glued all of my card layers to a white A2 card base and finished the card by added some Frosted Grape Pearls around the sentiment.

Here's the next card:

I created this shaker card by first die cutting a frame from white cardstock using the Kat's Essential Card Builder Craft Dies 3 set. I then glued the frame to a piece of acetate using 1/8" scor tape and added some 1/8" foam tape to the back around the frame pieces.

Next, I stamped the quokkas, gift, and banner from the Birthday Quokka stamp set. I also stamped a sentiment from the Sentiment Shoppe - Within the Fold: Sentiment Sampler stamp set onto a white strip. The sentiment reads "Celebrating you today!"

I colored my images using Prismacolor colored pencils. Specific colors are below:

  • Quokkas: Black, 90% French Grey, 70% French Grey, Sienna Brown, Mineral Orange, Goldenrod, Crimson Lake, and Crimson Red

  • Gifts, Balloon, and Banner: Apple Green, Spring Green, Chartreuse, Cadmium Orange Hue, Orange, Yellowed Orange, Dioxazine Purple Hue, Violet, Lilac, Sunburst Yellow, Canary Yellow, and Deco Yellow

I then fussy cut around the images using my scissors.

I cut a background panel for my shaker card from the Birthday for Him 6x6 Paper Pad and glued it to an A2 white card base. I then used Party Sprinkles and Fairytale Princess Sequins for my shaker bits. I made sure to place them so that there would be some in each of the shaker panels. I then removed the release paper from my foam tape and placed my frame over the card.

To finish the card, I arranged the quokkas, banner, gift, and sentiment on the outside of the card and glued them in place.

Here is the last one:

I started by die cutting some diamonds from the Birthday for Him 6x6 Paper Pack using the Nested Stitched Diamond Crafted Dies. I chose three different papers and sizes of diamonds for this design.

I then die cut "happy birthday" and the shadow from black and white cardstock using the Happy Birthday Shadow Sentiment craft dies and glued them together. I inked around the edges with Tea Dye Distress Ink.

Next, I stamped the turtle from the Friends Under the Sea stamp set and colored it using Prismacolor color pencils. Specific colors are listed below. After coloring, I fussy cut the turtle using my scissors.

  • Aqua: Cobalt Turquoise, Aquamarine, and Light Aqua

  • Brown: Dark Umber, Dark Brown, and Light Umber

Next, I created a background for my card. I used the Burlap Background Stencil, a blending brush, and Tea Dye Distress Ink to ink directly on a white A2 card base. I added some random areas of stenciling on the card base. I then smooshed some Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink onto my glass mat and spritzed it with water. I used a number 2 round brush to pick up some of the ink and added some color to the card base as well.

I then arranged my diamonds, sentiment, and turtle on my card and glued them in place. To finish the card, I added some Mocha Pearls.

That's if for all of my cards! I hope you enjoyed them and are inspired to check out the new release.

Happy crafting!
